Early Intervention Speech Pathology The Animated Series™ Video

EP1: The importance of early intervention

April 6, 2018

A video capturing the vital need for early intervention services for children between 0 and 5 years of age.

We are often asked, when is the best age to start with speech therapy? Put simply, earliest is always best. Speech pathologists can complete assessments and treat children from 16 months to 18 years of age. However, there is a very strong evidence base to support early intervention. If we can support children from birth until they are 4 or 5, we can act proactively reduce the long-term impacts of a communication disorder and give our kids the best chance to be ready for school. There really shouldn’t be a, “just wait and see”. In many ways, this old saying can do harm. Taking action today can ensure that your child is given the best opportunity to reach their full potential.
