Speech Clinic supports children with speech therapy across their childhood and teenage years who live in the Colac-Otway area. We strongly advocate for early intervention. Recognising signs of potential speech, language, social, or literacy difficulties is important, as this helps us to minimise future impacts on social and academic success.

Frequently, we’re asked, “when is the best age to start speech therapy?”. Early is always best. Speech Pathologists can complete assessments and provide treatment to kids from 16 months to 18 years old. There is strong evidence supporting early intervention. When a speech therapist can support a child from birth until 4-5 years old, they can reduce the long-term impacts of a communication or language disorder. This gives kids their best chance to be ready for school. Sometimes speech, literacy, fluency, language and social interaction difficulties can become apparent throughout a child’s schooling years. We love to support school-aged kids to reach their full academic and social potential.
